The Aces started off the better of the two and opened up a six point lead after two heats, the visitors not looking very convincing at all. Heat four proved the turning point, putting his recent poor run behind him, Adam Stephenson took a great win, with his partner Jarvis, who otherwise had a match to forget, relegating Jewkes to the back for a 6-4 advantage. This seemed to do the trick for their team mates subdued mood, and all of a sudden the Monarchs started to believe in themselves.

The returning pair of Lukasz Nowacki and Mark Newey took a maximum in the next heat, followed by a Pike/Burns 6-4 over Norman and Haddock to put the visitors three points up. The Aces battled hard but could never regain the lead, a Doherty tapes exclusion in heat 15 virtually sealing the home teams fate.

Aris, Norman and Jewkes gave it their all for Wednesfield but their team mates were not able to provide consistant backing. Leicester looked a different team with the inclusion of Nowacki and Newey, whilst Pike, despite a last first time out, continued his good form. The rest of the team rode with great passion and can be suitable pleased with a job well done.

And a word for the referee, Bob Prince, who did a great job in the middle but unfortunately had to hand a red card to Scott Doherty after his exclusion from the final heat.
