This match was full of five all's from start to finish twelve in total!
With the Sandwell team bolstered by the inclusion of the very impressive Jono Birks riding on secondary from Sheffield along with another two of his teammates the Aces new they had a match on their hands.

Race one saw Chris Jewkes leading Jono Birks for four laps with Scot Doherty in third spot keeping Russ Evans at the back and it looked like Wednesfield were about to record a heat one 6-4! BUT with 2mtrs to go Jono found a burst of speed to pass Jewkes on the finish line by a nats/whisker and so the first 5-5

The next 3 races were also 5-5s with race wins for Sandwell’s Jamie Brown, Wednesfields Mike Morgan’s & Chris Jewkes, come heat 5 and we saw the only exclusion of the match going to youngster Matthew Haddock for a very rare movement at the start tapes the result was a break of the stalemate and a 6-3 to Sandwell with Jono the winner from Scot Doherty 2nd and Scot Millward 3rd,

The next heat the Aces hit straight back with a 6-4 from Roger Cox & Mike
Morgan’s over Jamie Brown & Jim Palmer to reduce the deficit to one point and that’s how it remained right upto the interval ht9.

Another shared heat at the start of the second half with the race win going to Jono Birks over the Aces Cox & Doherty and then things started to go wrong for the Aces as Lee Smith and Ryan Hoyland recorded a 6-4 over Tom Haddock & Sam Smith, Sandwell then recorded another 6-4 when Aces Doherty came off on the first turn from the start but referee Roger Dainty saw nothing wrong and allowed the race to continue with Jamie Brown taking the win in front of Chris Jewkes,

Heat 13 was restarted several times with all four riders coming off on the first turn as Mike Morgan’s was gating over from grid four eventually the race got away and resulted in a 6-4 for the Aces with the win going to Morgan’s, Sandwell stormed back in the next race with the only 7-3 of the match and proved to be the winning points as Jono once again won the race to record a maximum 20pts the remaining races were all 5-5s with another couple of good race wins from Sandwell’s Lee Smith.
